Alprazolam is under the class of drugs referred to as benzodiazepine. This short-acting medication is formulated as treatment of panic attacks and anxiety disorders. It is likewise used as a complementary drug in the treatment of depression.

Patients who are taking either ketoconazole or itraconazole should not take alprazolam. There are patients who may experience severe or persistent symptoms. They are advised to seek medical attention at once. Such symptoms include: severe rashes on skin, memory problems, difficulties with coordination, hallucinations, confusion, yellowing of eyes and skin, and seizures.
Patients who overdose are likely to feel the following: confusion, difficulty with coordination, drowsiness, or even coma. Other side effects than those listed may be experienced by some patients. Those who encounter any unusual issues while taking alprazolam should consult their doctors about it.
While the drug is formulated to treat panic attacks and other specific mental and emotional issues, it can actually trigger such problems if abused or used outside the prescribed dosage and duration.
