Cardura

Cardura is one type of medication prescribed popularly for treating a myriad of medical disorders such as benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), high blood pressure, and congestive heart failure. It has been around for quite some time now and is marketed throughout the United States and the world as an alpha blocker capable of bringing the body back to its healthiest shape.

There are a lot of things about Cardura that people should know about. In the first place, Cardura is a kind of prescription medicine that is developed to contain doxazosin, which is but a member of the alpha-adrenergic blockers group. It is this content which works specifically to relax the veins and arteries in the body, then enhancing the blood flow. It is also through doxazosin that the once tired muscles in the bladder and prostate glands are activated to allow easy and pain-free urination.

Other than that, the Cardura medicine, although capable of treating symptoms of the said medical disorders, can cause certain bothering side effects that every patient should know about. Included in the list of the most common Cardura side effects are back pain, dizziness, drowsiness, diarrhea, flu-like symptoms, dry mouth, headaches, lightheadedness, nausea, stomach pain, tiredness, swelling, indigestion, and sense of whirling motion. Allergic reactions that tend to be severe like breathing difficulty, mouth and lip swelling, chest pain, rashes and hives may also develop along with other complications. The other risks involve chest pounding, eyelid swelling, blurred vision, and hands and feet puffiness.

Note that if any of the above mentioned symptoms are felt, it is important for every concerned party to seek for immediate medical attention or help. This is needed for the reason that once the side effects of Cardura are left ignored, they can lead to further complications that will cost you an arm and a leg.

There are several other side effects and complications that Cardura is capable of giving. However, the worst of them will only develop once the medication is taken not in a careful and proper way. Overdosage is one powerful culprit.

Speaking of overdosage, every patient prescribed with this powerful alpha blocker is always required to follow only the right dose to avoid any of the possible complications as mentioned above. Typically, adults will be required to take one milligram of Cardura to be taken once a day. A regular blood pressure will also be monitored to reduce the risk of fainting or dizziness. Once blood pressure is taken and the right dose is measured, the doctor will then increase the amount of the medication from two to eight milligrams. Those who are suffering from high blood pressure are even allowed to take about 16 milligrams of it. But after the consumption of this medicine, the patient is expected to feel a bit dizzy and lightheaded.

Note that Cardura is offered on the market today to be taken with or without food. It is also worth noting that unlike the other medications prescribed for high blood pressure sufferers, this alpha blocker may cause a sudden drop of the blood pressure after the first dose is consumed. With this fact, it will make a lot of sense if you’ll take the medicine at bedtime, and if you get up during the night, make sure to move slowly.

If you are thinking of considering other prescription medications, talk to your doctor first. This is a rule of thumb for every patient since Cardura may interact with other medications and even herbal or dietary supplements. To stay safe, ask the experts first and follow the dosage according to what is directed. It’s all but a matter of common sense, right?
