Cefzil

Considered throughout the medical industry as one powerful antibiotic, Cefzil is basically a semi-synthetic antibiotic formulated to be taken orally. It belongs to the family of cephalosporin, thus a close relative of cephalexin, cefuromine, cefixime, cefaclor, and other injection antibiotics.

Being a member of cephalosporin, it’s no wonder for Cefzil to be considered as highly capable of fighting against any harmful bacteria in the body. The most common culprits that it tends to kill are Streptococcus pneumoniae, Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus pyogenes, E. coli, Proteus mirabilis, Shigella, Hemophilus influenzae, Salmonella, Moraxella catarrhalis, Neisseria gonorrhoeae, and Clostridium perfringens and difficile. All of these bacteria organisms are capable of causing certain conditions that may alter the normal function of your bodily systems, making them worth eliminating.

So to simply put, what is Cefzil treated for are tonsillitis, bronchitis, skin and ear infections, gonorrhea, throat infections, laryngitis, pneumonia, and other bodily infections. Treating bacteria vaginitis with Cefzil is even highly recommended by most medical experts today.

Now, let’s take a closer look to the right and proper Cefzil dosage.

As what most doctors maintain, patients suffering from any of the above mentioned conditions must only be prescribed with Cefzil according to certain standard dosage. Normally, Cefzil is recommended to be taken one or twice a day. This, however, may vary depending on the mildness or severity of the infection caused. More dosage will be given to a patient suffering from a severe bacterial infection.

Aside from that, patients prescribed with Cefzil are allowed to take the medicine with or without food. This medication comes in two forms: tablet and suspension. If the latter form is preferred, make sure to take it an hour before your meals, however. And, note that patients who are suffering from renal diseases on their advanced stages must only take this medication at lower doses.

Note that when under or overdosage is made, certain side effects associated with the intake of this powerful antibiotic may occur. The most common are diarrhea, mild nausea, and yeast infection of the vagina and mouth. If any of these side effects are experienced, you may continue taking the medication but make sure to see your doctor.

There are also several other side effects that tend to be serious for many patients. Included in the list are swelling of the lips, mouth, or face, breathing difficulty, rashes, hives, and closing of the throat. The other symptoms include itching and redness of the skin, severe diarrhea, nausea and vomiting, unusual bleeding, bruising, and bloody stool. If these side effects occur, there’s nothing else better for you to do than to stop taking the medication and seek for immediate medical help. Talking to your doctor personally will definitely help since it is only him or her who will tell you exactly what and what not to do with your condition. Your doctor may also tell you other possible side effect associated with the medication.

In terms of drug interaction, Cefzil is found out to interact with a number of medications. The most listed are warfarin, probenecid, loop diuretic like torsemide, bumetanide, and ethacrynic, and other antibiotics. So if you are taking any of these medications, it would be best if you’ll tell your doctor about it. You may be required to take a certain dosage adjustment of Cefzil or you may be asked to maintain a good monitoring task to make the treatment effective and safe. Any of the herbal and dietary supplements you are currently taking must also be reported to your specialist prior to the use of Cefzil antibiotic.

Note: Cefzil must be taken even after the desired result is achieved. The symptoms will start to show an improvement though even before the treatment is completed.
