Digitek is prescribed by doctors to strengthen the performance of the heart and regularize its beating. It’s a common treatment for heartbeat abnormalities like atrial flutter, atrial fibrillation and conditions like congestive heart failure – or the inability of the heart supply adequate blood throughout the body. It also works to maintain a normal volume of water in the body. Among the symptoms of congestive heart failure are severe weakness and weariness, inflammation on the legs and the feet and breathing difficulty.

Other medical conditions that your doctor should examine before you use Digitek are: liver disease, kidney dysfunction, Adams strokes syndrome, Wolff-Parkinson-White syndrome, ventricular arrhythmias, sick sinus syndrome, low heart rate and heart block. You should also tell your doctor about your history of heart attack, certain allergies to drugs, or even food. Tell the doctor if you are pregnant, planning to get pregnant and/or presently breast-feeding. Your doctor will also check on the level of calcium, magnesium and potassium content in your body. Do not overdose or attempt to double up when you missed or skipped a dose. It is good to take Digitek medication prior to your regular meal or a couple of hours after your meal.

Older patients, usually above 65 years may have complications with Digitek medication. Doctor may adjust or lessen the dosage for these age groups. Furthermore, some drugs that you are presently taking may cause interaction with the Digitek. If you use the following the drugs, make sure to inform your doctor about it: anti-cancer agents, alprazolam, antacids, acarbose, barbiturate, beta-blockers, captopril, calcium, magnesium and potassium salts, cholesterol-lowering drugs, clarithromycin, cyclosporine, erythromycin, diltiazem, diet pills, foledipine, gatifloxacin, herbal supplements or products, cold medicines, dofetilide, sotalol, neomycin, metformin, omeprazole, phenytoin, psyullium, quinine, rifampin, quinine, rabeprazole, suflasalazine, succinylcholine, spironolactone, sodium polysterene sulfonate, sevelamer, trimethoprim, tramadol, tetracycline, thyroid hormones, verapamil, diuretics, and weight reducing drugs.

Drug interaction may lessen the effectiveness of Digitek in your body. Moreover, discuss with your doctor your lifestyle, your alcohol intake, smoking and caffeine consumption. These could trigger the worsening of the drug’s side effects. Notify your doctor the soonest time you experience any of the following: mood swings, change in mental ability, anxiety, altering of color sight or when patient sees more of the color yellow, blurry vision, high sensitivity to lights and bright objects, nervousness, chest pain, confusion, constipation or diarrhea, drowsiness, dizziness, increased heartbeat or decreased heartbeat, skin rashes, appetite loss, pain in the stomach, numbing of the feet or hands, tiny reddish spots on skin, bruises and unusual weariness.

Report any changes that you might experience along the course of your Digitek treatment including you development of your condition. Never attempt to increase your dosing if you don’t feel any progress. Tell your doctor right away if you see some improvement but do not try to stop medication. Avoid switching to other brands for cost or other reasons unless your doctor tells you. If your doctor prescribes you to use other Digoxin brands other than Digitek, then stick with it.
