Lorazepam

Lorazepam is quite a popular drug, when it comes to psychological disorders. In fact, a lot of people have probably heard about the drug at one time or another. But what is Lorazepam exactly for?

Lorazepam is mainly used to treat anxiety disorders. It is also used to relieve the symptoms of anxiety disorders for a period of roughly four months. Lorazepam is one of the popular drugs in the class that is termed as benzodiazepines. The effect of Lorazepam is in the slowing down process of the chemical movement in the brain. When this happens, nervous tension in the brain is reduced, as well as anxiety.

If you are allergic to any of the components of Lorazepam, do not take the drug at all. Your physician can determine if you are indeed allergic to Lorazepam or not. If you are afflicted with narrow-angle glaucoma, liver disease, or psychosis, you should not take Lorazepam as well. Your physician can prescribe another drug for you. Also, if you are taking Sodium Oxybate, Lorazepam should be out of the picture.

If you are pregnant, or if you suspect that you are pregnant, then do not take Lorazepam. Lorazepam can cause serious birth defects to unborn children. If you are taking Lorazepam, be sure to implement an effective birth control method. This applies to nursing mothers as well. It hasn’t really been proven that Lorazepam can be secreted through breast milk. But the adverse effects of the drug make the possibility worthwhile to consider.

Also, if you are taking any form of medication that causes drowsiness, Lorazepam should not be taken. Examples of such medicines include certain antidepressants and narcotics.

If you have COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease), impaired lung function, blood disorders, muscle weakness, liver disorders, glaucoma, depression, or suicidal thoughts and tendencies, do not take Lorazepam. Lorazepam use can only worsen the symptoms of these conditions.

If you have a history of drug addiction or drug dependence, Lorazepam should not be used as well. Lorazepam can be a very addictive drug. And if you have been dependent on certain drugs before, the chances of becoming addicted to Lorazepam are quite high. This is why you cannot buy Lorazepam without prescription. When you do buy Lorazepam, you will always be asked for your prescription. Also, it is not advisable to buy Lorazepam online. There have been cases when Lorazepam purchased online has been found to have the component known as Haloperidol. Haloperidol is actually an antipsychotic drug, which is known to have very dangerous side effects. So, it’s always better to buy Lorazepam from a licensed pharmacy. Even your physician would recommend that.

Lorazepam side effects cannot really be predicted because it differs from one patient to another. Generally, the more common Lorazepam side effects include memory problems, dizziness, sedation, weakness and fatigue. But these side effects of Lorazepam are temporary, and they usually occur at the onset of the treatment. These will gradually decline over time.

The more serious Lorazepam side effects are caused by a sudden decrease in dosage, or a sudden stoppage of the treatment. This is why only your physician can decide your dosage for you, or if you should stop treatment or not. Do not make any sort of decision on your own.

Ironically, even if Lorazepam is used to treat anxiety and disorders related to depression, the onset of the treatment can cause an increase in suicidal thoughts and tendencies. In fact, there have been many attempts of suicide by Lorazepam already. Lorazepam overdose is very common, but induced vomiting and gastric lavage can thwart it. A Lorazepam overdose causes drowsiness, lethargy, and confusion, in mild cases. But the more serious cases can include hypotonia, hypotension, ataxia, hypnotic state, coma, and even death. If Lorazepam overdose is suspected, seek medical attention right away.
