If the long usage of Methotrexate is inevitable, then it would be better for you to have liver biopsies taken once in a while. When taking Methotrexate liver biopsy and regular check-ups are really inevitable. Your physician can plot a schedule for you.

Other Methotrexate serious side effects include an inclination towards having lung problems, skin reactions, mouth sores, diarrhea, and the growth of lumps and tumors. Although these side effects of Methotrexate are serious, they rarely occur. Still, you have to inform your physician about any of these occurring. This is especially true for the growth of lumps and tumors. This particular case can be indications of complications of the existing cancer. It would be up to your physician whether or not you should stop your Methotrexate treatment.

It is very important not to mix Methotrexate and alcohol. Methotrexate causes drowsiness on its own. If you take Methotrexate and alcohol together, then drowsiness will certainly worsen. Thus, it is important for you not to do this, especially when you plan on driving. This is not for your safety alone, but also for the others in the vicinity.
