Because of the many indications of Nasacort, people cannot help but ask the question: what is Nasacort exactly for? Nasacort is a long-term treatment against bronchial asthma. In fact, Nasacort is used to give temporary relief of bronchial asthma, as well as control the incidence of bronchial asthma attacks. Nasacort is utilized, too, in treatment of nasal polyps. Nasal polyps are actually tissue masses that project from the nasal walls. Nasacort AQ is actually a metered-dose pump spray containing the same anti-inflammatory steroid medication.

There are certain things you need to know when undergoing Nasacort medication. First and foremost, Nasacort does not really cure asthma. This is not the purpose of Nasacort at all. Rather, Nasacort attempts to lessen the rate of the asthma attacks themselves, as well as their severity. But Nasacort can only work if it is administered on a routine basis. If you are looking for fast relief for such attacks, then you must try medications that are aimed at opening the airway.

Generally, your Nasacort dosage should be taken daily. There may be times when the prescription would require more than a daily dose of Nasacort. What’s important here is that the prescription should be followed as it is given by your physician. With Nasacort and Nasacort nasal spray, you would be able to see its effects within a week of using them. But it takes usually at least two weeks for the maximum effect to kick in. With Nasacort AQ, improvement can start within a day or two of using it. But its maximum results will kick in around a week or so.

When using Nasacort, be sure to shake the bottle or the canister very well before you use it each time. Nasacort inhalers have to be primed twice if idle for three or more days. They have to be activated twice, in order for the medicine to kick in. When you use it, and you find that the drug is hard on the throat, you can gargle with water, with each Nasacort dosage. Doing this relieves the throat irritation, and it does not cause any adverse effects at all. Stick with the dosage schedule as much as possible. If you do miss a Nasacort dosage, then realize it later, take the missed dose. But if it’s about the schedule for the next one, don’t take the missed dose anymore. Instead, just wait for your next dose. After taking that dose, just go back to the original schedule. It is important to note down that no two Nasacort dosages should be taken at one time.

Nasacort has side effects for users as well. These possible ill effects of Nasacort include headache, cough, fever, nausea, indigestion, nosebleed, ear inflammation, throat discomfort, stuffy nose, colds, asthma, sinus problems, vomiting, and other related infections. You should contact your physician immediately, should you experience any of the listed side effects. Your physician alone can determine whether or not you should discontinue your Nasacort treatment. Should you have one or more of these , it is highly likely that you will have to stop your treatment right away. The best thing to do is still to contact your physician right away.

Contact your physician for any questions and concerns regarding your Nasacort treatment as well. It is always better to be informed about the medication and the treatment you’re taking. So, do not hesitate to bring up these concerns with your physician right away.
